Experiential learning at Dalhousie is an opportunity for students to take what they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to real-world experiences.

Experience is the greatest teacher

At Dalhousie, experiential learning can take many forms, including: service learning and community-based projects, in-class simulation, live performances, field trips , study abroad opportunities, and competitions, moots, and hackathons .

When students participate in experiential learning opportunities, they return to the classroom with fresh perspectives, new-found confidence, and renewed commitment to their studies. They gain a deeper understanding, a broader skillset, and a clear direction for their post-grad life and careers.

Experiential learning in action

Dalhousie believes in offering hands-on, collaborative education. All students have access to experiential learning opportunities, and nearly 90% take advantage of them. Dal students share how experiential learning has made an impact on their academic careers.
